Portable but powerful, the Tascam Portacapture X8 is a high-resolution handheld PCM recorder. Featuring a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen for easy operation and readability in the field, the intuitive menu system allows for the quick selection of a variety of pre-set recording parameters for several different recording scenarios such as music, voice, podcasts, field recording or manual settings. A built-in mixer with audio processing options such as low-cut, filter compressor and noise gate adds a huge amount of versatility and flexibility. 

The X8 can record with sample rates of up to 192khz and features 32-bit floating point resolution to ensure exceptional audio quality. 32-bit floating point resolution results in content with uncompromised audio quality even with low-level recordings. When editing the audio data later, you can increase the level without deteriorating the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N). This is particularly useful in field recording 

The Portacapture has two detachable large-diaphragm condenser microphones that can be set in either an A-B or X-Y configuration. If you wish to use your own external microphone, the four locking XLR/TRS combo inputs capable of handling mic and line-level signals, as well as additional mini-jack inputs and outputs, allow for the connection of external microphones as well as cameras or other audio devices. 

The Portacapture X8 is powered by 4 x AA batteries (included), which will last for approximately 11 hours when phantom power is not used.
